CHEST CLINIC REPORT
I am indebted to Drs. P. Forgacs and D. G. Wraith, Chest
Physicians at the Greenwich Chest Clinic, for the following Report
on Tuberculosis in the Borough.
The Clinic Tuberculosis register is as under: —

Twenty-seven new cases of pulmonary tuberculosis were
notified during the year in the undermentioned age groups: —

Six cases of non-tuberculosis were notified, four women (2
neck glands, hilar bronchial glands and spine) and two men (left
knee and right epididymis).
Twenty-seven patients were transferred out to other clinics
and 22 have been transferred into this clinic. 134 ante-natal
patients have been X-rayed; one tuberculous disease was found
amongst these. 106 children and young adults were given B.C.G.
inoculation because they were contacts of cases with tuberculosis.
45 positive Mantoux children were referred to us from school
because they were found to have positive tuberculin tests. Two
hundred and sixty-three new contacts of tuberculous patients were
X-rayed.
It is of interest that some of our old cases which we have
been following up have relapsed with the reappearance of sputum
positive for Tb, five cases have so relapsed which is a fairly high
figure in comparison with the number of new cases mentioned
above. This shows the importance of following up these patients
especially those who have not been treated with antituberculous
drugs in the past but whose disease was controlled by other
