Charlton House Day Club
This Club, which has been operating for over four years is still
very popular and regularly used, especially by quite a number of
elderly gentlemen who meet daily.
Kidbrooke House Day Club
The Kidbrooke House Day Club has, until recently, not proved
very successful and during the past year, has not been used by
elderly people. We have been very concerned at this state of affairs
and have investigated many suggestions to popularise this Club.
Finally, on the 2nd June, 1960, a scheme came into operation
whereby six elderly invalids were collected from their homes in the
Minibus and taken to Kidbrooke House where they were looked
after by members of the British Red Cross Society and provided
with Meals on Wheels. They were then returned home during the
late afternoon. The scheme, which operates on one day per week
at the moment, is greatly appreciated by the old people concerned
and it is hoped to extend this service in the very near future.
West Greenwich House Day Club
The West Greenwich House Day Club which opened on the
11th September, 1957, is proving very successful and membership
has increased over the past 12 months, largely due to the paid
helper, Mrs. A. Crowshaw, to whom we extend our sincere appreciation.
The average daily attendance over the past year has been 35
and lunches are served each day to approximately 6/10 old persons.
We are deeply indebted to the Greenwich Borough Council for
the facilities which they have made available to us at the Community
Centres.
Meals on Wheels.—Thanks to the generosity of the Greenwich
Borough Council, we are very pleased indeed to report the purchase
of a Morris Minibus to augment the meals-on-wheels service. This
vehicle came into operation on the 1st April this year and, whilst
easing the position regarding the number of meals delivered by
each van, has also enabled additional meals to be served daily.

The following is a statement of the number of meals served during the Financial Year 1st April, 1959, to 31st March, 1960:-

British Red Cross Society's Van9,461
Old People's Welfare Association Van9,099
