success is due to the untiring efforts of those who organise the Clubs
and their helpers, and to them we would like to extend our sincere
thanks on behalf of the old people for the hours of voluntary work
so cheerfully given.
As we have mentioned before, the Clubs, in the main, are selfsupporting
but they do receive each year a small grant from the
Borough Council, for which we extend our sincere thanks.
This year again it is the turn of the National Federation of Old
Age Pensions Association to report that an additional Club has been
opened. This Branch, to be known as the Blackheath Branch, has
been formed at the St. Mary's Church Hall, Cresswell Park, and will,
we feel, be able to cater for a large area of the Borough which up to
now has not had the facilities for forming an Old People's Club.
There are now thirteen clubs in the Borough meeting each week and
the relevant details are given in the following list.
