POPULATION
The Registrar General has submitted his estimate of the population
of Greenwich, computed at mid-year 1957, upon which the
Statistics of this Report have been based. The figure returned is
88,910 indicating an increase in the population of 130 since last
year but a decrease of 936 since the 1951 Census. The current
figure shows an advance of 25,110 over that for 1945.
The natural increase for the year, i.e., excess of births over
deaths was 393.
The Child Population at mid-year 1957, as estimated by the Registrar General was:—
