METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATIONS—1956.
I am indebted to the Director of the National Maritime Museum
and, in particular, to Eng. Commander H. O. Hill, R.N., for the
following meteorological data for the year ended December,1956 : —
Temperature :
The highest screen temperature was 84°F. on 26th July.
The temperature exceeded 80°F. on 8th July (82°F.)
25th July (82°F.)
26th July (84°F.)
The lowest screen temperature was 16°F. on 21st February.
The extreme maximum temperatures during January,
February, November and December, were :—
55°F. on 29th January
55°F. on 29th February
57°F. on 8th and 9th November
57 °F. on 12th December
Sunshine:
Total hours recorded 1323.0
The sunniest day was 25th July, when 14.4 hours of sunshine
was recorded.
