New Towns under the Industrial Selection Scheme, whereby liaison
is established between the Ministry of Labour and National Service,
the New Towns Corporations and the exporting Local Authorities
to tie up the allocation of accommodation in New Towns with the
question of new employment in industry there. These negotiations
resulted in agreement being reached whereby the London County
Council act as a central clearing house for the London County Area,
and when the revision of the points scheme was carried out, the
opportunity was taken to find out which applicants were interested
in moving to New Towns. The scheme came into operation too
[ate in the year for any opinion to be formed as to what effect it will
