AGE MORTALITY. The age mortality and the distribution of the deaths between tho different quarters of the year are shown by the following table:—

The first quarter of the current year produced over 36% of the
year's total deaths and although a trend of this nature is normal
there was an exceptional increase in deaths from respiratory and
circulatory diseases especially among the older people. This was in
all probability an aftermath of the December ' smog ' of 1952.
