homes, enabling them to purchase Utility sheets, came to an end
in February. From January up to February 28th 430 dockets had
been issued. In its stead coupon equivalent Certificates are now
issued. These, however, carry no priority of supply. From the 1st
March until the end of the year 1,591 such Certificates were issued.
Day Nursery.—The Council has now only one Day Nursery,
situate at Conley Street, East Greenwich. This nursery has
accommodation for 42 children at ages 0-2 years and was fully
utilised throughout the year. Primarily intended for babies of
mothers who are on full-time work of National or Industrial
importance, cases are accepted on compassionate or hardship
grounds from non-working mothers provided there are vacancies.
Health Visitors.—The following tables show (A) the number
of visits made by the Health Visitors during the year in connection
with Births and cases of Infectious Diseases, and (B) number of
Infant Consultations and Ante-Natal Clinics attended and miscellaneous
visits:—
