Public Sanitary Conveniences, Etc.—The public sanitary
conveniences of the Borough are situated in the main arteries of
traffic. The convenience at Charlton House was closed in January,
1945, owing to extensive damage by enemy action.
Towards the end of the year negotiations were in operation to
purchase a site to erect a convenience to provide accommodation
for persons in the Woolwich Road district, near Anchor & Hope Lane,
Charlton. This is an important industrial area and is also frequented
by large crowds visiting adjacent sporting grounds.
Appended is a Table showing particulars of the Public Conveniences
provided by the Council:—
