SECTION B
General Provision of Health Services for the Area.
Public Health Staff.—There were numerous changes in the
personnel of the Department during the year. Dr. J. E. Howard
relinquished his duties as Acting Medical Officer of Health upon my
return from service with H.M. Forces in July. Dr. M. Macdonald,
a former Medical Officer of Health who, during the war period,
came out of retirement to undertake duties as Tuberculosis Officer,
died in February and was succeeded by Dr. C. W. L. Jeanes.
Sanitary Inspectors.—Mr. F.H.D. Boddy joined the staff in
August whilst Messrs. Garrard and Archer left to take up other
appointments.
Health Visitors.—Four new Health Visitors took up duties
during the year whilst one retired on health grounds. Miss Forrest,
who had been engaged temporarily as Nurse at the Dispensary since
1944, was placed on the permanent staff.
Clerical Staff.—Four members of this section were welcomed
back from service overseas with H.M. Forces.
Chiropodists.—Mr. H. Rosenstein was appointed as Senior
Chiropodist in place of Mr. Philpott.

Bacteriological Examinations.—The undermentioned specimens were submitted to the Seamen's Hospital Laboratory for bacteriological investigation, the results being:—
