In addition to the above 528 persons were seen by the Health
Visitors at the office, chiefly in connection with milk applications.
Notification of Births.—The following Table gives the number and types of notifications received respecting births in the Borough:—

From a perusal of the above Table it will be seen that 1272
births actually took place in the Borough. Of this number 579
were transferred to Other Authorities. Against this, 325 births
which occured in other areas were allocated to Greenwich, thus
giving a nett figure of 1018.
Infant Welfare Centres.—After cessation of hostilities,
many mothers, together with their families, returned from evacuation
areas and consequently all centres were fully engaged, the
attendances generally being up to pre-war averages. Charlton
Lane Centre which was utilised as a First Aid Post during the war
period, reverted to its original use in July. Figures relating to
each Centre are given in the following Tables:—
