In addition to the above, 9,676 pints of liquid milk were distributed free
or sold at reduced prices at a nett cost to the Council of £139 8s. 8d.
In December the re-established Public Health and Maternity
and Child Welfare Committee had under consideration various
reports on the establishment of a revised scheme for the supply of
liquid milk at reduced prices to nursing and expectant mothers and
children under 5 throughout the Borough. It was considered
probable that during the following year it would be possible to
introduce such a scheme in accordance with the recommendation
of the Ministry of Health.
