Handicraft Centre.—The Centre continues its good work,
thanks to the zeal of its able leader Mr. Worlock.
The Committee consist of the following members, Mr. W. J.
Worlock (Chairman), and the offices of Vice-Chairman, Hon.
Treasurer and Hon. Secretary are held by Dr. Watson, Dr. W.
Alcock and Miss I. B. Mills respectively.
Included on the Committee are the Chairman of the Public
Health Committee, Councillor Mrs. F. Carter, and the Chairman
of the Maternity and Child Welfare Committee, Councillor Mrs.
A. Kennedy. The other members are Mrs. Dabin, the Medical
Officer of Health, together with one member of the Nursing Staff.
As a result of the Christmas Seals Sale during the Christmas
1937, owing to the satisfactory response which was made by the
public, it was possible for the Committee to provide help to expatients
during the year.
For the current season it is anticipated that a record response
will be made to the appeal and it is hoped that during the coming
year very much more in the way of assistance to patients will be
possible.
I should like to take this opportunity on behalf of the Committee
and the patients at the Handicraft Centre, to sincerely
thank all helpers and the members of the public who have assisted
in this good work.
The usual summer outing and Christmas party were organised
by members of the Handicraft Aid Committee to whom much
praise is due for their good gifts on behalf of the social side of the
Handicraft Centre.
In conclusion I should like to acknowledge my indebtedness
to the other members of the Tuberculosis Department Staff, whose
work is reflected in the body of this report and the statistical
tables appended.
I am, Sir,
Yours faithfully,
W. ALCOCK, M.B., D.P.H.,
Tuberculosis Officer.
