Home Helps.—The question of providing a service of home
helps as part of the Council's Maternity and Child Welfare scheme
was again considered by the Maternity and Child Welfare Committee,
and towards the end of the year a scheme was finally adopted by
the Committee and approved by the Ministry of Health. It is
expected that as a result of the working of the new Midwives Act
much use will be made of this service.
Foot Clinics.—During the year 4,608 attendances were
recorded, representing an income of £230 8s. 0d.
The appointment system introduced at the beginning of the
year has proved a great boon to patients, and in view of the
great demand for chiropody, further extension of facilities is under
consideration. This service is now available at every Centre, each
district being served.
The following table gives the attendances at each Clinic:—
Chevening Road | Charlton Lane | Creek Road | Shooter's Hill Road | Total | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Sessions | 233 | 153 | 147 | 19 | 552 |
Patients | 2,255 | 956 | 1,301 | 96 | 4,608 |
Fees £230 8s. 0d.
Ultra Violet Light Treatment.—Artificial Sunlight Clinics
are held at all the Welfare Centres. As previously, evening
sessions were held during the Winter months. These evening
sessions are available for paying patients. The fees charged
are 12/- for 6 treatments or 20/- for 12 treatments. During the year
22 patients were given 203 treatments, the fees received totalling
£20 12s. 0d.
The arrangements with the authorities of the Roan Schools
for the treatment of certain selected cases continue to be in force.
