MERCHANDISE MARKS ACT, 1926.
Under the powers conferred by this Act, Orders in Council
have been made prohibiting the sale, or exposure for sale, of the
undermentioned imported foodstuffs, unless such bear an indication
of the country of origin.
Honey Apples
Currants Sultanas
Raisins Eggs in shell
Dried eggs. Oat products
Frozen or chilled salmon Butter
Dead poultry Meat
Routine inspections aro made to secure compliance with the
various Orders, and on nine occasions warnings were given because
of minor infringements.
SUPERVISION OF FACTORIES WHERE FOOD IS
PREPARED.
Included among the premises where food is prepared are—
mineral water, sweet, vinegar, pharmaceutical sundries and fruit
canning factories. Frequent inspections have been made of these
factories, and a satisfactory state of hygiene is maintained.
At the vinegar factory damaged dry fruit, or other imperfect
materials may be used in the manufacturing process. All such
materials are examined by the food inspector.
