Home Nursing.—Children attending the various Centres who
are found to be in such a condition as to require special nursing
at home are referred to the various Nursing Associations operating
in the Borough, the Council paying Is. per visit to the Queen's
Nursing Association. The total number of cases nursed including
those referred from the Centres was 114 necessitating 2,899 visits.
The Council also contributes £50 per annum to the Ranyard Mission.
Artificial Sunlight.—The type of defect for which Artificial
Sunlight appears of greatest value includes:—
underweight and debility in children, convalescence from
infectious disease or operation, anaemia and bronchitis.
Among the patients referred from the Centres were 46 expectant
mothers and 46 post-natal cases.
Institutional Provision for Mothers and Children.—
Cases of mothers and children who, in the opinion of the Medical
Officer would be materially benefited by a course of convalescent
treatment, are dealt with from time to time. The Committee
set aside the sum of £100 per annum for such cases. 7 mothers
and babies and 111 children were sent away during the year.
