Handicraft Centre.—This continues its good work guided
by Mr. Worlock. During the year the class was changed from
Friday morning to Monday afternoons.
It was hoped that the Centre could be affiliated to the National
Association for the Prevention of Tuberculosis, in order to take
part in the Sale of Christmas Seals. Twice previously the
application was turned down. There is reason to believe however,
that it may be possible to benefit by affiliation next year.
The class roll was sadly depleted towards the year end by the
loss of several of its most enthusiastic members. It is hoped
however, that the Centre will get back to its normal standard
during the coming year.
A carpenter's bench has now been added to the equipment
and new ventures may in the near future be undertaken.
The usual Summer Outing and Christmas Party were
organized by members of the Handicraft Committee who deserve
the praise of all associated with the work.
In conclusion I should like to acknowledge my indebtedness
to the other members of the Tuberculosis Department Staff whose
work is reflected in the body of this report and the statistical tables
appended, and also to Mr. Duck for his assistance in auditing the
accounts of the Handicraft Centre.
I am, Sir,
Yours faithfully,
W. ALCOCK, M.B., D.P.H.,
