PREVALENCE OF, AND CONTROL OVER, INFECTIOUS
AND OTHER DISEASES.

Under the compulsory notification Section of the Public Health (London) Act, 1936, and the Orders and Regulations made there- under, 3,587 cases of Infectious Diseases were reported during the year. The following table shows the comparison since 1931.

Particulars relating to age groups and districts are shewn in
the tables at the end of the Report.
Small-Pox.—There were no cases reported during the year.
Public Health (Small-pox Prevention), Regulations,
1917.—It was not found necessary for your Medical Officer of Health
to undertake any vaccinations during the year.
Details respecting vaccination in the Borough are given in the
Supplementary Vaccination Report on page 87.
Whooping-Cough.—Whooping Cough is only notifiable in a
few London Boroughs of which Greenwich is one.
Altogether 549 cases were notified compared with 128 for the
previous year. 200 occurred in East Greenwich, 116 in West
Greenwich, 33 in St. Nicholas and 200 in Charlton and Kidbrooke.
Forty-seven cases were removed to Hospital for treatment.
Diphtheria.—The number of patients notified as suffering from
Diphtheria during the year was 258 as compared with 367, 422,
396 and 235 for the years 1935, 1934, 1933 and 1932. Two hundred
and forty-seven cases were removed to Hospital.
