Smoke Abatement.—During the year this problem was constantly before the staff and 31 observations of Factory chimneys
were made for the purpose of detecting offences under the Public
Health (Smoke Abatement) Act, 1926, and the Public Health
(London) Act, 1936, and the Bye-laws made by the London County
Council which came into force in 1931.
