SECTION 2.
GENERAL PROVISION OF HEALTH SERVICES IN THE AREA.
Hospitals Provided or Subsidised by Local Authority.
(1) Fever and (2) Small Pox. — Cases of Infectious
Diseases are treated at the Hospitals of the Metropolitan Asylums
Board. The only M.A.B. Hospital in the Borough, which is
situate at Shooter's Hill Road, near the Woolwich boundary, is
the Brook Hospital. The nominal accommodation is 550 beds,
including 104 in special Wards (Isolation, Separation, etc.).
(3) Tuberculosis.—Sanatoria treatment for the area is
provided by the London County Council.
(4) Maternity.— Maternity Home, 78, Shooters Hill Road
Blackheath, S.E.3, provided by the Council. Accommodation
comprises :—
(1) Receiving Ward.
(2) Two General Wards with 9 beds each.
(3) Small Ward with 2 beds.
(4) Isolation Ward with 1 bed.
(5) Two Labour Wards.
(6) Medical Officers' Room, Laundry, etc., together
with residential accommodation for Matron.
(Nurses, Probationers and Domestic Staffs
accommodation is situate at 105, Shooter's
Hill Road, which is opposite the Maternity
Home).
(5) Children.—No hospital is provided by Council, but
arrangements are made with Deptford Fund for the treatment of
Greenwich Children. A Grant is also made to the St. John's
Hospital, Lewisham, in respect of minor operations performed
on children referred to them by the Medical Officer in charge
of the Infant Consultations.
