The various activities which members of my staff have been
engaged upon have been maintained, and have not only been maintained
but in small ways have been expanded Those in connection
with the care of the elderly have continued to be among the forefront
of those in any areas, and I have been privileged to receive
many distinguished visitors.
Anotable event in the year was the Home Safety Exhibition held
in the Town Hall for a week in November. This was most ably
organised and arranged by my Deputy Dr Bates with the assistance
of many organisations and individuals including members of my
staff. It was visited by a fair number of the public, including
various school parties and individual children.
It is impossible to assess the educational value of such a
venture but it might well have directed a number of minds to
dangers which they had not appreciated, and reminded others of
them. In this way it may have served a very valuable purpose.
It is a pleasure to record the help and support that you,
Mr Mayor, and members of the Council, have continued to give me,
particularly that of the Chairmen and Members of the Committees
with which I have been principally concerned. It is also a
privilege to be able to express formally, my sincere appreciation
for the loyal co-operation and help I have enjoyed from all
members of my staff.
I have the honour to be
Your obedient Servant,
C. O. S. BLYTH BROOKE,
Medical Officer of Health.
