The siting of stalls for the sale of foodstuffs requires investigation
with a view to reducing the risk of contamination of food.
The system of issuing licenses to stall holders for the sale of
foodstuffs subject to the approval of the conditions of sale and
storage by the Public Health Department is working well and has
undoubtedly prevented undesirable conditions being commenced.
MILK:
Almost all sales of milk in the Borough consists of Bottled milks
and in consequence problems in relation to the details of the handling
and treatment of them have been practically eliminated. Sampling for
chemical and bacteriological examination has continued in order to
provide a check on suppliers from other areas. In this connection
special attention has been given to that sold to Day Nurseries and
Schools Inspection of premises from which milk is sold have also
continued and in 1960 276 such inspections were made
Apart from the introduction of milk vending machines (from which
