CLEARANCE AREAS
During the five years under review, a very great deal of clearance
in relation to the size of the Borough was initiated, and carried
through by the Borough Council. The remaining part of the programme
agreed for 1951-1955 was completed as well as the whole of that for
1956-1960 A provisional programme for 1961-65 was also submitted.
Two large areas have been, or are being, dealt with, namely Galway
Street (314 acres) which provided space for the development of modern
blocks of flats already in occupation, and Kings Square Nos, 1.2 and 3
areas (over 11 acres) where redevelopment will be possible.

The individual areas dealt with were:
