BLOOD TRANSFUSION
The Council has continued throughout the past syears to co-operate
with the National Blood Transfusion Service by arranging Blood Donation
Sessions at the Health Centre The number of sessions held and the
number of volunteers has remained fairly constant during the period
under review Three sessions were held during 1960 at which 325 donors
attended, 289 were bled and 36 were rejected for various reasons
INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATES OF VACCINATION AND INOCULATION.
These being an international form of certificate of vaccination
and inoculation, require the signature of the medical practitioner
issuing the certificate to be authenticated by the Medical Officer of
Health In 1960 204 certificates were so authenticated. There has
been little variation from year to year of this service.
BURIAL OR CREMATION OF THE DEAD
Each year arrangements have been made for the burial of a few
persons who have died or who have been found dead in the Borough
where no suitable funeral arrangements have been made In 1960 three
such burials were arranged
HEALTH EDUCATION
Health Education in 1960 followed very similar lines to that
adopted in the previous four years under review, namely by the
exhibition of public posters and by the distribution of literature
from suitable centres Efforts were made with some success to
increase the number of distribution centres by circularising all the
voluntary organisations,, churches etc in the Borough asking for their
co operation, which was in most cases readily given
Healtn Education in general was also carried out throughout the
year by all the members of the staff who are in contact with the
general public in their homes and businesses
Exhibition Stands situated in the entrance hall of the Health
Centre were used to display amongst other publicity matter, the
publicity sets issued by the Ministry of Health
Book marks incorporating information on various health education
subjects have also been distributed with the co-operation of the
Libraries Department,
