The Non-pulmonary cases include:-
1 Right inguinal gland: 1 Lumbar Spine; 1 Peritoneum; 2 Kidneys.
The notification rate for all forms of tuberculosis was 12.58 per
10,000.

The total number of cases remaining on the register after adjustment for deaths and transfers was. on 31st December 1958.

The full details of each case obtained by the Tuberculosis Visitor
were, by kind co-operation of the London County Council, made available
to and any preventive measures possible co-ordinated with those of the
Borough Council.

There were six deaths from pulmonary tuberculosis as follows:-

Males.45,47,64,70.
Females:40,79.

There was one death from non-pulmonary tuberculosis a female
aged 79 years.
I should like to acknowledge the willing co-operation and facilities
for the interchange of information which have been provided by
the Chest Physician, Dr. W.D.R. Thompson, and his staff.
Finsbury Chest Clinic

During the year 1958 a total of 1,612 patients were seen in the
Chest Clinic. Of this total. 98 attended for the first time as contacts
of notified cases, and a further 48 were re examined as routine
contact checks.
The number of new cases of tuberculosis taken on the clinic register
during the year amounted to 27, of which 20 were pulmonary and 7
non-pulmonary. Of the pulmonary cases 10 proved to be infectious. In
addition to these cases a further 24 notified cases (all pulmonary)
were transferred into the borough from other clinics and hospitals.
