Similarly, large quantities of foodstuffs are handled by the
British Transport Commission which has depots in the Borough and the
Pood Inspectors are frequently called in to adjudicate on food that
has been damaged or contaminated in course of transit.
A total of 187 visits were made by the Pood Inspectors during the
year in connection with the examination of unsound food and 1,038
condemnations certificates were issued. These figures exclude any
reference to meat inspection.
