Pneumonia.
Sixty-one cases were notified and there were 3 deaths in the first
quarter of the year in elderly males. One notified case was
subsequently found to be suffering from pulmonary tuberculosis.
Infective Hepatitis.
There were 9 cases brought to the notice of the department in
the year, 4 in the first quarter, 1 in the second, and 4 in the last
quarter of the year. Three cases in this last group were in the same
school.
Ophthalmia Neonatorum.
Six cases were notified and all responded well to treatment.
Puerperal Pyrexia.
Five cases were notified. None of these were of any significance.
Erysipelas.
Seven cases were notified. They were all mild and all recovered.
Scarlet Fever.
There were 66 notified cases, and 1 unnotified case. 61 of these
were admitted to hospital. One developed the complication of
adenitis and another otitis media, but all made a good recovery.
Malaria.
One case was notified in a resident of Finsbury receiving
treatment for the disease in the Hospital for Tropical Diseases. He
was a soldier recently returned from Korea.
Tuberculosis.
The total number of new cases entered in the register during
the year was 90.

The distribution by sex and age, and according as to whether the case was of Pulmonary or Non-Pulmonary Tuberculosis, was:—
