Acute Influenzal Pneumonia.
Seven cases of influenzal pneumonia were notified; three of
these were removed to hospital on account of their home conditions.
One death occurred in a patient of 72 years old.
Acute Primary Pneumonia.
Twenty-six cases were notified and of these 25 were removed to
hospital, either because of the severity of illness, or unsuitable home
conditions. Two deaths occurred, both in aged persons.
Erysipelas.
Three cases were notified during the year, they were mild and
recovered.
Measles.
There was a considerable increase in the number of cases of
measles notified during the year. The majority, however, were of a
mild type. Out of a total of 901 cases (including 4 unnotified), 47
were recorded as severe, 281 moderate and 573 mild cases.
Sixty-four patients were removed to hospital, thirty-three with
bronchitis, and eleven with broncho-pneumonia as a complication.
Only four of the cases were in adults, the remainder being in
children up to the age of 14 years, with a majority between 1—4 years.
Ophthalmia Neonatorum.
Two cases of ophthalmia neonatorum were notified, both did
well and no blindness resulted.
Puerperal Pyrexia.
Eight cases were notified. They were all in hospital and there
were no deaths.
Scarlet Fever.
There were 54 cases during the year. All these were in young
children. Two cases were of moderate severity, and one other
developed the complication of mastoiditis. There were no deaths
from this disease.
