There is a very large number of underground rooms throughout the
Borough. Many of these rooms which are occupied as dwellings do not
conform in every respect with the statutory requirements but closure is
impracticable in present circumstances and owners have in general been
very co-operative in maintaining them in reasonably fit condition.
Increase of Rent and Mortgage Interest (Restrictions) Acts
Certificates of Disrepair were granted in 16 cases during the year.
