Small-pox.
1938—Nil.
Vaccination. No vaccination was performed by the Medical
Officer of Health under the Public Health (Small-pox Prevention)
Regulations, 1917.
The Council considered and decided to support a resolution
forwarded to them by the Metropolitan Boroughs' Standing Joint
Committee to this effect:—
(a) That in order that infants may be vaccinated free of
charge to their parents by their own medical practitioners, instead
of by the public vaccinator, legislation should be promoted to
enable metropolitan borough councils to determine the present
practice of appointing public vaccinators, and remunerating them
by fees, and to permit the councils to pay to private medical
practitioners the same fees as those at present paid to public
vaccinators; and (6) that, whether or not such legislation is promoted,
arrangements should be made for a supply of Government
lymph to be obtained free of charge by any medical practitioner
who is called upon to vaccinate.
