I am satisfied that the high standard reached in previous years
has been maintained, and the apparent decline in 1938 is due to the
fact that Inspector Troughton, who was engaged in a temporary capacity,
resigned in December, 1937, and was not replaced. A further cause is
to be found in the extra duties which the Inspectors are called upon
to perform in connection with Housing.
In addition to the above, 1,925 inspections and calls have been
made by the Food Inspector, Mr. Yates. 251 visits were made to
St. George's Wharf by Inspector Webster for the purpose of the
examination of imported foods.
