Municipal Foot Clinic.
Four afternoon and four evening sessions are held weekly, and, of
the latter, the session held on Thursday evening is reserved for persons
making special appointments. Owing to the increasing popularity of
this service, it was found necessary. in order to avoid the turning away
of a considerable number of persons, to engage an additional
chiropodist to attend at each of the sessions. There are, therefore,
two male and one female chiropodists on the staff. 408 sessions were
held during the year, at which 6,669 treatments were given. The
receipts totalled £292 5s.
GynÆcological Clinic.
In September the Council opened a clinic at Harton Street Health
Centre at which women, both married or single, could attend for the
diagnosis and treatment of conditions suggestive of derangement of the
reproductive organs. Such conditions if not remedied at an early stage
frequently incapacitate. The clinic is held fornightly and is in charge
of Dr. Bessie Playfair, who is on the staff of the Royal Free Hospital.
Dr. Playfair reports as follows :—
No. of Sessions 8
New cases 31
Total attendances 58
