The survey of houses in multiple occupation in the Borough commenced
at the end of 1962 was continued. Fifty-two dwellings comprising 218 lettings had
received visits by 31st December, 1963. In 36 cases Management Orders under
Section 12 of the Act were made. These were later followed by the service of
informal notices indicating the amenities lacking in the premises. This approach
resulted in some response from Owners but in the main the essential facilities
required in dwellings have not been provided.
