Preservatives in Food
The routine practice under which all samples of milk, butter,
margarine and cheese submitted to the Public Analyst, are examined
for the presence of a preservative was continued throughout the year
and in no instance was a preservative found to be present.
Ice Cream
During the year, 4 applications for registration for the sale
of ice cream were approved and 9 premises were removed from the
register upon ceasing the sale of ice cream. Two applications were
refused on the grounds that potatoes and other dusty root crops were
sold at the premises concerned. One of these was later registered
upon ceasing the sale of root crops.
