During 1956, the population showed a natural increase of 347,
that is that there were 347 more births than deaths, but in spite of
this the Registrar General estimated that the number of persons
resident in the Borough was 1,580 less than in the previous year,
showing that some nineteen hundred persons had been rehoused outside
the Borough or left for other reasons.
