In addition, a second station for recording the dally measurement
of pollution by sulphur dioxide and of smoke was installed at
the Town Hall.
The results obtained from the instruments at the two stations
are communicated to the Department of Scientific and Industrial
Research.
(20) Hairdressers and Barbers
During the year, in accordance with Section 18 of the London
County Council (General Powers) Act, 1954, 51 premises and the
persons carrying on the businesses of hairdressers or barbers
thereat were registered after the "appointed day" of 1st October,
1955. Bye-laws made by the Council for the purpose of securing the
cleanliness of the premises, instruments and persons employed, etc.,
were confirmed and came into operation on the 1st November, 1955.
