MATERNITY AND CHILD WELFARE.
It is interesting to note that although the population
of the borough is smaller than before the war
and our facilities are more restricted, there has
actually been a much larger attendance of expectant
mothers at the Maternity Clinic. This is no doubt
largely due to the use of the Welfare Centre as a
registration centre for hospital accommodation for
confinement. To illustrate the extent to which the
Council's welfare facilities have been used in recent
years, I give statistics of the pre-war average and the
later war years as well as for the year under report.
