MATERNITY AND CHILD WELFARE.
Notwithstanding the smaller population of the
borough and the restriction of our facilities, the
volume of work at the Welfare Centre and of the
Health Visitors in the homes is very little short of
its pre-war level. The attendance of mothers at. the
Ante-Natal Clinic is actually several times greater
than before the war and it has been necessary to
increase the weekly session from 3 to 4. In accordance
with the practice in the reports of recent years,
I give statistics of the immediate pre-war period, the
war years and the year under report, for purposes
of comparison. These show not only the war-time
fluctuations (due to evacuation and return) but the
new post-war level which has been reached in this
work:
