OTHER DISEASES.
Measles.
During the year 1143 cases of Measles came to
my knowledge from the following sources :—
By formal notification by
medical practitioners 61
Schools 652
L.C.C. Ambulance Service 272
Other Hospitals 43
Health Visitors 85
Sanitary Inspectors 23
Parents 7
All cases except one were visited, either by a
Health Visitor or the District Sanitary Inspector,
according to the age of the patient.
329 patients were removed to L.C.C. Special
Hospitals, and in 26 cases, nursing assistance was
provided by the Council, 275 nursing visits being
paid.
After various corrections of diagnosis and sifting
of "suspected" cases, there would appear to have
been a net total of 1077 actual cases.
Information as to cases not already known to
them is passed on to the L.C.C., to enable that
authority to check the spread of infection in the
schools and similar information is sent to Sunday
Schools.
There were six deaths from measles during the
year.
German Measles.
39 cases of German Measles were also reported,
5 of them proving to be not German Measles. 17
of them were removed to hospital.
