This year, the number of patients attending the clinic,
and the actual amount of work done for them has again
increased. There were 39 more attendances than in the
previous year, showing an average attendance per session
of 11.3 as against 9.7 last year. The amount of work done
has been correspondingly more, particularly in the number
of extractions, fittings, scalings and parodontal treatments.
It is pleasing to see the increase in these latter types of treatment,
as it is often difficult to get patients to accept them.
Owing to this increase in the work, in future two sessions
a week will be held for Mothers. Although the number of
patients coming to the Clinic has increased, it is a pity that
most of them still do not attend early enough, and thus
obviate the necessity of complete extractions as the only
course of treatment open to them.

Mr. Bate furnishes me with the following statistics:—

Children attending routine inspections, 18, of whom 11 were
found to reauire treatment.

Children referred by Medical Officers and Health Visitors 194, 175 of them requiring treatment and making 323 subsequent attendances.

The year 1938 has shown a definite increase in the
number of children inspected, although the number of
Routine Cases that attended was extremely poor, showing
a still further decrease on the previous year, but l am pleased
to say that the cases sent along by the Centre Doctors and
Health Visitors maintained a very fair average.
