scientific and hygienic system, known as the
" Garchey " system, beside which all our present
methods appear wasteful, unhygienic and inefficient.
It is a further advantage of this system that the
heat used in it can be utilised to provide a common
hot water supply. This of course can be supplied
in a much cheaper way than by individual housewives
using separate means of heating, apart from
the convenience and health value of its being continually
" on tap." Having regard to the fact that
such large sums of public money are being invested
in housing it seems to me very important to secure
that there shall be an adequate return in following
years not only in the maintained value of the buildings
owing to their up-to-date character but also in
the form of the added health and comfort of those
who live in them.
