RAG-FLOCK ACT, 1911.
27 formal samples of rag-flock were taken during
the year, and in 4 cases the amount of chlorine
present was found to be in excess of the limit fixed
by the Regulations.
RAG AND BONE DEALERS.
18 persons or firms are known to be carrying
on this business in the Borough. During the year 32
visits of inspection were made, and 9 sanitary
notices were served.
HAIRDRESSERS.
98 hairdressers' premises were on the register,
220 visits were made to them, and 19 Notices were
served.
SHOP ACTS, 1934.
Certificates of exemption from the requirements
of this act with regard to the provision of sanitary
conveniences have been issued on grounds of restricted
accommodation or other special circumstances
in the following cases : 1936, 34 ; 1937, 188.
COMBINED DRAINAGE SYSTEMS.
The reconstruction and maintenance of such
combinations of drains of houses and premises as are
found to be sewers by law defined and are not under
highways is carried out by the Public Health Department.
The staff engaged on this work consists of a
drainlayer and four labourers, with additional help as
required.
During the year 1 system was reconstructed,
taking 3 houses.
At the end of the year there were 637 such combined
drainage systems, taking 3,238 houses.
DRAINAGE WORK.
No legal proceedings were taken during the year in
respect of offences in connection with drainage work.
