The incidence of infectious disease in 1937 showed very
little change from 1936. There was one case less of Diphtheria,
there being 222 cases, while the number of Scarlet fever
cases notified during the year was 307 compared with 332
in the previous year.
I desire to draw the attention of the members of the
Council to the special report in the appendix on food expenditure
compiled by Mr. Lloyd and myself.
I have pleasure in expressing my gratitude to the members
of the Public Health Committee for their unfailing courtesy
and their earnest and sympathetic consideration of all matters
relating to the public health. I also take the opportunity
of thanking my colleagues in other departments for their
ready and willing co-operation and also the members of the
staff for their efficient and loyal service.
I am, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Your obedient servant,
Vynne Borland.
