Scarlet Fever.
There were 307 cases of scarlet fever notified during
the year, 297 of the patients being removed to
an isolation hospital.
No deaths were certified as due to scarlet fever
during the year. From information received from
the hospitals, it would appear that in at least 20
cases (or 6.5 per cent, of the total) the diagnosis was
not confirmed. 8 cases seem to have been developed
in hospital, 5 being members of the hospital staff,
while there were 10 " second cases."
Enteric Fever.
Three cases were notified.
Other Notifiable Diseases.
Particulars of the number of notifications of
various diseases and the age grouping of the patients
will be found in the accompanying table.
Consultations with Medical Practitioners.
1 was called in consultation by medical practitioners
with a view to discussing the diagnosis in a
number of doubtful cases.
Statistics and notes with regard to Puerperal Fever,
Ophthalmia Neonatorum, and Home Nursing will be
found in the section relating to Maternity and Child
Welfare.
