CLINICS.
For Children Under Five.
The Council has a Welfare Centre in Cornwall
Road (as well as a Branch Centre at St. Matthew's
Institute, Hereford Street) at which a variety of
work, including Infant Consultations, Dental Clinic,
Light Clinic, etc., is carried on. This work is discussed in the Maternity and Child Welfare Section
of this Report.
For School Children.
These are under the control of the London
County Council.
By the courtesy of Sir Frederick Menzies, School
Medical Officer, L.C.C., I have been furnished with
the following information concerning local arrangements for the medical treatment of school children:

*Spectacles were prescribed in 255 eases and obtained in
246 cases.
DENTAL INSPECTION.
4,765 children were inspected by dentists and 3,846
found to require treatment.

Bethnal Green School children will be found on page 55.
DAY NURSERIES.
There is now only one Day Nursery in the
Borough, the Bethnal Green Day Nursery, Somerford
Street, which belongs to a voluntary society.
I have been furnished with the following information concerning its work.
Accommodation 30
Total attendances 6,119
Average attendance 27.0
Twelve children were sent away to a Holiday Home for
3 weeks, while 13 others were sent away for convalescence for
various periods.
