with an institution for her confinement, and remained under
their supervision throughout her pregnancy.
With regard to the miscarriages, in three cases the patients
were multigravidæ and attended the clinic suffering
from threatened miscarriages and were immediately
referred to hospital. In one case, the patient was a 12gravida
and had a six weeks miscarriage following a fall,
and in the remaining case the patient was a primipara of
81, suffering from anaemia.
With regard to the stillbirths, in every case labour was
premature, and in three cases there was a history of antepartum
haemorrhage, one case being due to placentaprævia.
With regard to the premature confinements, in two of
these cases, the cause was ante-partum haemorrhage, and
in one case hydramnios. Ruth C. Townsiiend.

mornings and both ante-natal and post-natal cases
are seen. The figures show a substantial reduction
on those for 1935. This no doubt mainly reflects the
fall in the number of births.
