I have been furnished with the following information concerning its work.
Accommodation 30
Total attendances 5,513
Average attendance 25.5
The Pro Patria Day Nursery, Bishop's Road,
closed at the end of September, owing to financial
difficulties. Unfortunately the situation and nature
of these premises rendered them unsuitable for
acquisition by the Council. There is, however,
need for a Day Nursery in the north-eastern part
of the Borough and every endeavour is being made
to obtain a suitable site for an adequate municipal
nursery.
INVALID CHILDREN'S AID ASSOCIATION,
BETHNAL GREEN BRANCH.
The Bethnal Green Branch of the Invalid
Children's Aid Association, which has offices at 36,
Barnet Grove, has furnished the following report of
its activities :—
" During 1935 the work of the Bethnal Green
Branch of the Invalid Children's Aid Association for
the delicate and crippled children of the Borough
has continued to expand. A total number of 349
applications was made largely through Hospitals,
Dispensaries, Private Doctors and School Care Committees.
Of these 103 were already known to the
Branch having had some assistance in the past.
" In addition to the visiting and supervision of
delicate and invalid children in their homes, 139
children were sent away to Convalescent or Nursing
Homes for an average stay of 10 weeks each and
43 Surgical Instruments were provided.
"There is close co-operation with the London
County Council and with the local voluntary and
municipal bodies. In this connection the Committee
wish to thank the Borough Council for the great
help which they so kindly give to the work.
