Home Workers.
Of the 2,994 workmen and contractors whose names
appeared on the lists received, 2,112 resided within the
Borough. The latter figure is approximately double
the number of individual workers, as in the majority
of cases the same people are notified in February and
in August. M
The number of visits paid to Home Workers'
dwellings was 1,498. The number of premises found
to be in an insanitary condition was 196, or 34 per"
cent, of the 573 premises inspected. Notices were
served in 136 cases, while 38 other premises were under
notice arising from other visits, and a verbal intimation
was given in 22 further cases.
Difficulty is still experienced in getting some
employers promptly and accurately to send in copies
of their list of outworkers, but no legal proceedings
were taken in the matter during the year.
