The milk fat content of the 21 samples of "Channel Islands" of "South Devon " milk ranged as under:—

All the 79 samples of ordinary milk were reported as genuine and the average composition was as follows:—

Heat Treated Milk.
Samples of pasteurised and sterilised milk are taken at regular
intervals for submission to the Public Health Laboratory Service for
the Prescribed tests, and during the year samples as under were taken
with the results set out:—

Monthly returns of the samples taken, and of the results of the
examinations, are sent to the Milk Division of the Ministry of
Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, and they are at once notified of
adverse report.
Ice-Cream.
Fifty-six samples of ice-cream were taken during the year, each
sample being submitted to the methylene blue test.
The samples were, as a result of the test, placed in the following
