Protection of Food Supply.
(A)—INSPECTION OF FOOD PREMISES.
The regular inspection of all premises where food for human
consumption is sold or stored is carried out as a routine. The Food
and Drugs Act, 1955, and regulations made thereunder, is the principal
Act under which action is taken.

There are 1,067 food premises in the Borough, together with 72
food stalls. Some of the premises shown above are listed under more
than one trade category.
Dairies and Milk Distributors.
At the end of the year there were 135 premises in the Borough
whose occupiers were registered as milk distributors. The business of
a dairy, wholesale dealer, whose premises were registered as
dairy, was discontinued during the year.
All these premises were visited during the year, and 2 notices
concerning non-compliance with the Food Hygiene Regulations were
served .
